Tulum’s best beachfront hotels range from boutique eco-lodges to luxury resorts, offering a variety of accommodations to suit your preferences and budget. Important to note is that these popular beachfront hotels in Tulum can fill up quickly, especially during peak travel seasons. So book well in advance (at least 6 months in advance). This also results in a better chance for a lower price. You can visit Tulum year-round but there are different seasons. We stayed in Tulum at Our Habitas in June (low and rainy season), but experienced good weather and lower prices compared to the high season. December to April is the high season so expect to see crowds and higher prices, but weather-wise it is the best time to visit.

What is the best part of the beach in Tulum?

The “best” part of the beach in Tulum is subjective and depends on what you’re looking for. However, the following areas along Tulum’s coastline are popular for their beauty, ambiance, and amenities.

Tulum Beach Road (Boca Paila Road): This stretch of beach along Tulum Beach Road is a great location for many boutique hotels, eco-resorts, and beach clubs. You’ll find powdery white sand, lush palm trees, and stunning turquoise waters. This area is popular for its laid-back vibe, excellent dining options within walking distance, and picturesque sunsets.

Soliman Bay: Just north of Tulum you’ll find Soliman Bay which is a tranquil and secluded stretch of beach known for its calm waters and excellent snorkeling possibilities. It’s an ideal spot for families and those looking for a quieter beach away from the crowds.

Tankah Bay: At the south of Tulum you can visit Tankah Bay. This is another secluded beach area with calm waters and pristine white sand. It’s a popular spot for kayaking, paddleboarding, and snorkeling. Tankah Bay offers a more off-the-beaten-path beach experience compared to the busier areas of Tulum.

The beaches in Tulum are generally swimmable, but there are a few factors to consider. At certain times of the year, seaweed may wash up on the shores of Tulum’s beaches. While most of the listed hotels put their efforts into keeping the private beaches clean, the presence of seaweed can sometimes affect the water quality and swimming conditions.

The best option depends on your priorities and the type of vacation experience you desire. If you prioritize beach relaxation and tranquility, staying at the beach is preferable.
