Located in the Dhaalu Atoll, Niyama Private Islands Maldives is best known for its high-quality breaks, untouched waves, and out-of-this-world accommodation.

You can reach Niyama by taking an exhilarating 45-minute seaplane journey from Velana International Airport or by taking a 25-minute domestic flight to Dhaalu Airport, followed by a 5-minute speedboat transfer.

Niyama is divided into two resort islands, Chill and Play, connected by a wooden bridge. Play is the adventure island with direct access to the private waves, while Chill is the island of world-class spa and wellness services.

Regarding surfing, Niyama Resort offers direct access to their exclusive break Vodi Surf Point. Vodi is a world-class left-hand break suitable for all skill levels. It works best when winds blow in an easterly direction, making the left-hander more hollow and rippable. 

Another popular break is Kasabu, which is a 5-minute speedboat journey away. This right-hand wave is the perfect spot for beginners and longboarders. Other activities this surf resort offers include snorkeling, cruises, sports, and gaming.

COMO Cocoa Island is one of the best Maldives surf resorts for travelers seeking surfing lessons. Found in the South Malé Atoll, a 40-minute speedboat ride from the international airport, this resort offers quality surf breaks and a premium surf program.

The resort doesn’t have an exclusive break but does offer easy access to Chickens Surf Point – a fast left-hander offering reliable surf. This break has two sections and a thin, peeling, racing lip. 

The nearby Kandooma Right is a fast-break that features two take-off points and a fantastic barrel. At the resort, you are treated to luxury overwater villas. Some of the villas have the unique shape of a wooden boat without a private pool, while others are the classic overwater villas with private pool. All villas offer direct access to the lagoon with amazing snorkel opportunities. 

Guests are served Asian and Mediterranean classics at two restaurants, and romantic private dining experiences are available. This resort even has an activities menu that features things like snorkeling, whale shark watching, diving, and paddleboarding.

There aren’t any exclusive breaks, but other nearby popular surfing spots, whether beginner or professional include Twin Peaks, Quarters, and Kates.
