There are lots of cafe’s and restaurants on the island offering vegan options, even Thai local food stalls. At a few cafes the whole menu is even dedicated to vegan options. Especially in the Sri Thanu area, which is known for the many yoga schools, detox retreats and art, hippie vibes. Below some of our favorite vegan restaurants in Koh Phangan offering some of the best smoothie bowls and yummy vegan dishes!

Orion cafe Koh Phangan- detox & healthy meals

Orion is a holistic healing, detox and yoga retreat centre and restaurant in Sri Thanu. It was one of our most favorite cafes in Koh Phangan to eat and have a juice at any time of the day! Their menu is so extensive with a lot of delicious detox and vegan options, so you’ll feel revitalised and re energised after eating. And together with the wonderful sea view and relaxing atmosphere this is one of the best places to sit down and enjoy the sea breeze with a super healthy meal. Try their elixirs and healthy juices because they are the best of the island. I personally also loved the green smoothie bowl and salads.

Karma Cafe Koh Phangan

Karma cafe is located in Sri Thanu and is an organic and vegan cafe serving some of the best vegan dishes and desserts on the island. Their unique Bali-style interior looks fancy, and the environment make it a perfect place to get some work done if you’re a Digital Nomad. To be honest we personally ate there a few times and every time the service was very slow and not that attentive. Which is also one of the comments on Tripadvisor. But besides that, I still recommend it because the food is very good and you know, it’s the island life. So everything and everyone slows down. Try their smoothie bowl or the vegan sushi, yum!

Opening times Karma Cafe Koh Phangan: Tuesday to Sunday 9 AM – 11 PM (Monday closed)

Eat.Co means Eat Consciously, and that’s exactly what you can expect when your food gets served! Located in Sri Thanu and another restaurant close to the pier of Koh Phangan in Thong Sala, their extensive menu is a mix of delicious vegan food from smoothie bowls to salads and burgers. We’ve eaten here so many times and love the vegan sushi bowl, brownie, banoffee pie and snickers smoothie bowl in particular. But also their freak shakes and many other dishes on the menu are very tasty and worth a try!

You can sit inside in the airco or outside on their lovely veranda.

The Art cafe is a really nice place, kind of tree house, to sit down and have some healthy food, drinks and relax. The food on the menu is creative and delicious, and everything is suitable for vegans and vegetarians. You have to try their delicious and nutritious smoothie bowls, banana bread, chai latte and chocolate vegan cake.

Seed to Feed Koh Phangan

Seed to Feed is a beautifully decorated and peaceful restaurant with a mission to “grow their menu daily”. This healthy, European, Asian, vegetarian friendly restaurant with vegan options has a farm next to the restaurant where they grow (almost) all their ingredients themselves.

Their menu is extensive with lots of different choices from ‘create your own salad’ to healthy juices and other delicious nutrition rich food. Definitely one of the more pricey restaurants in Koh Phangan, but you’ll get a lot of quality and taste for it in return. Also a nice place to work as a Digital Nomad!

Best coffee and Digital Nomad cafes in Koh Phangan

There are a few cafes in Koh Phangan which serve some of the best coffee we’ve tasted. Coffee and work often goes hand in hand, so in many nice coffee cafes in Koh Phangan you will see Digital Nomads at work. Some of the best and most laptop-friendly work spaces with delicious coffee and food are listed below.

Bubba’s Koh Phangan

Bubba’s eatery was one of our favourite cafes to have breakfast. Their coffee is the best on the island, you definitely have to try it if you’re a coffee lover! We also loved their chia pudding which has a nice light vanilla taste with mango and pineapple in it. Their menu is varied and you can get some really nice healthy options. We also worked a few times at Bubba’s cafe and saw that many other Digital Nomads did the same. So for a very good coffee, attentive staff and a nice work environment, Bubba’s is your place to be! They have two locations, one in Haad Yao and one in Ban Tai, of which the one in Ban Tai has a more extensive menu for lunch.

Indigo Koh Phangan

Indigo is a specialty coffee & bakery in Sri Thanu Koh Phangan. They also serve some of the best coffee on the island but with a little different taste than at Bubba’s. It’s just about your personal taste and what you prefer more. Indigo is a French-orientated restaurant and they absolutely have the best croissants and freshly baked bread on the island. Their menu has a big variety of vegetarian and nonvegetarian choices, as well as a lot of tea and coffee options. Another great plus is that they are a laptop-friendly workplace, especially the upper floor where most of the Digital Nomads are working.

Best dinner restaurants in Koh Phangan

Peppercorn Koh Phangan

If you’re looking for the best steak on the island, head over to Peppercorn in Haad Salad. Definitely some of the best steaks we’ve ever had and without a doubt the best meat restaurant on the island! The chef asked us every time we went there how the food was, very polite! The restaurant has a nice view of a part of the sea and has other different choices on the menu as well. But don’t go here when you’re vegetarian. The high quality food comes with a price as well, so be prepared to pay about 1500 – 1800 Baht for a dinner for two with drinks.

Fisherman’s Restaurant Koh Phangan

This lovely beachfront restaurant located in Ban Tai has some of the best fresh seafood in Koh Phangan. The idyllic beachfront seating and mostly natural interior materials give this restaurant a special vibe. The owner converted his family fishing boats into seating which gives that extra personal touch. All their seafood is fresh from the sea and not farm-fed, and Fishermans also claims to not use and artificial flavoring such as MSG. They use fresh local ingredients and where possible organic. Their wine list is also extensive and the prices are mid-range but well worth it!

The restaurant is located in Sri Thanu next to Indigo and they have a cozy outdoor eating area with tables and in another area, cushions to sit down on. The menu is very extensive and the prices are affordable. We would advise to try the paneer butter masala, malai kofta and plain palak. So tasty!

The international and Thai kitchen serves varied quality food and their wine menu is very extensive with more than 60 references by the bottle. The stylish and creative design is a true eye-catcher. A lot of love and talent went into decorating this quirky Parisian paradise by the sea. The best French restaurant in Koh Phangan for a special dining experience with your feet in the sand.

Locco’s PizzaBar Koh Phangan

Locco’s Pizza Bar is the best pizzeria in Koh Phangan if you ask us. The pizzas are loaded with toppings with a crispy base, but other Italian dishes are of excellent quality as well. The cozy atmosphere and nice tropical interior make it a perfect match. On selected evenings they have beautiful live music and the staff is very polite and attentive. Definitely our favorite Italian restaurant in Koh Phangan!

Best Thai food Koh Phangan

When in Thailand, of course you want to taste the best local Thai dishes. On Koh Phangan are some very good Thai restaurants or takeaway options. Every restaurant offers take away, but you can also get some very good Thai food on the markets, such as the Thong Sala Night Market

Pum Pui Thai food Koh Phangan

Our favorite Thai restaurant and best Phangan Thai takeaway was Pum Pui in Sri Thanu. The cook is a very nice and funny guy and always welcomed us with a warm smile while saying to Atiba: “Handsome Man! What you want today?! Massaman?” We ordered almost every time Massaman here, because it is so rich in taste and very yummy! We used to have takeaway here a minimum of 3 times a week. Definitely try this restaurant if you want to taste real Thai food. But ask for no spicy or in Thai “Mai Pit” if you’re not into spicy food. When we left Phangan we said him goodbye and he gave us these Massaman colored t shirts with Pum Pui on it, so cool haha!

Pura Vida Koh Phangan

Pura Vida offers a great variety of western food as well as some Portuguese / Brazil delicacies such as the Acia smoothie bowl. It is located in Haad Yao opposite of Locco’s PizzaBar and next to Bubba’s cafe. There is not too much space to sit outside, and you’re basically sitting next to the road, so it’s maybe not the most cosy place to eat. But if you’re a smoothie bowl lover you have to try the Acai bowl! It’s very good and the best Acai bowl we’ve had on the island! Their coffee on the other hand was okay but a bit weak in taste.

Opening times Pura Vida Koh Phangan: 7.30 AM – 7.30 PM (only on Monday and Thursday closed at 5 PM)

Orion Koh Phangan

Orion has been mentioned before in this blog post as the best breakfast and vegan restaurant in Koh Phangan. This holistic healing, detox and yoga retreat center in Sri Thanu offers an extensive menu with many healthy options. One of the great options on their menu was the smoothie bowl of which you can choose the base yourself. I loved the green smoothie bowl which had spirulina in it. The toppings were good too, and in the smoothie itself were pieces of mango mixed.
