MAENAM BEACH KOH SAMUI – The Ultimate Guide

Maenam beach is one of the quieter beaches on Koh Samui and stretches for about 6 kilometers with beautiful and soft white sand. The crystal clear turquoise waters and waving palm trees make it the perfect place for travelers who like to relax on a quiet beach with not many people around. Maenam beach is great for peace seekers as there are some restaurants, but it’s certainly not as busy and developed as Chaweng and Lamai beach. So no big beach clubs, but enough facilities around. Read in this complete guide all you need to know about Maenam beach Koh Samui.

Best Koh Samui tours

How to get to Maenam beach

Maenam beach is located in the North of Koh Samui. We stayed in the Maenam area so this beach was the first we visited. We fell in love immediately as we both prefer the more quiet and pure beaches. If you type in on Google maps ‘Maenam beach’ you will be directed to the small parking area. It is absolutely worth it to visit this beach and we’d recommend to combine it with a visit to Bophut beach and Fishermans Village which are just 5 minutes further down the road.

What to expect

Soft white sand, palm trees and not many people around. That’s what you can expect at this beautiful beach. Therefore this is the perfect relaxing spot for people in search of a beach away from the crowds. There are some small restaurants where you can order a drink or food. But there are no sunbeds or umbrellas for rent. The water is very shallow so if you have kids this is the perfect place for them to play.

Maenam beach is approximately 6 kilometers long. however, tides mean it’s not always possible to walk the full length. But still, it is a great walk, especially in the early morning or with sunset. And with so few people around extra romantic 🙂

Koh Samui weather

If you are planning to visit Koh Samui, of course you want to go in the best months with the driest days. The monsoon usually lasts from October through December with November as the wettest month. February and March, on the other hand, are the sunniest months. January is (statistically) the coolest month and April the hottest time of the year. Broadly you can travel to Koh Samui from January until October to have the best chance on a sunny vacation.

Where to stay in Koh Samui

This depends on what you are looking for and what your budget is considering the Samui hotels or beach resort you can choose. If you’re looking for entertainment and nightlife you have to stay around the Chaweng area. But if you’re more into relaxing and quiet beaches, then book your accommodation around the more in the south or around Maenam beach area as it’s much quieter.
