FREEDOM BEACH KOH TAO – The Complete Guide

Freedom Beach Koh Tao is the most popular secluded beach on the island. Tucked away under the mountain hill with shady palm trees and mangrove jungle around, this beach offers some of the clearest, bluest water on the island.

Freedom beach is very quiet with no big buildings around except one wooden restaurant. The fine white sand, crystal clear water and trees scattered along the beach make it the perfect spot to relax, swim and snorkel. You can sunbath or relax in the shadow, order some food at the restaurant or go to the amazing viewpoint at John Suwan mountaintop to have a view over the bay. In this blog post you will read everything you need to know before heading to Freedom Beach Koh Tao! Book here your snorkel tour to the hidden bays of Koh Tao including Freedom bay.

How to get to Freedom Beach Koh Tao

Freedom beach Koh Tao is located on the southern tip of the island. The road towards the carpark is well maintained and also gives access to Taa Toh Beach and John Suwan viewpoint. The entrance fee for Freedom beach is 100 Baht per person. From the car park it is only a 2 minute walk to this beautiful and quiet beach.

What to expect on Freedom Beach Koh Tao

Freedom Beach is a scenic place with crystal clear water. The sand is super white and soft and because of the secluded location it gives the feeling of a private beach. Because there are many trees scattered along the beach, there is enough shade. And if you want to have lunch or a little snack, there is a restaurant where you can order food. There is a shallow coral reef right in front of Freedom Beach Koh Tao. From here you can see Buddha Rock (Hin Taa Toh) standing out on the cape. If you swim around the cape, schools of fish can often be found due to the constant water movement there. This makes Freedom Beach one of the best Koh Tao snorkeling spots.
