AOW LEUK BEACH KOH TAO – The Complete Guide
Aow Leuk Beach is a tiny beach with beautiful white sand and crystal clear water with Shark Island in the background. It is a perfect bay for snorkeling with easy and calm conditions for most of the year. In this blog post you will find everything you need to know about Aow Leuk Beach.
How to get to Aow Leuk Beach
Aow Leuk Beach is easy to access from the main road with nearly all concrete road until the parking lot. There was a fee of 100 Baht charged when we wanted to enter the beach in 2019 and no outside drinks or food are allowed!
What to expect at Aow Leuk Beach
The scenery at Aow Leuk Bay is stunning. With the white sandy beach, crystal clear water with varied shades of blue and Shark Island in the background, Aow Leuk Bay is one of the best Koh Tao spots for snorkeling and is amongst the most beautiful Koh Tao beaches.
Shark Island is visible from Aow Leuk Beach. This is the place to spot Blacktip reef sharks!
Things to do at Aow Leuk Beach
Aow Leuk Beach is wide and sandy and is the perfect bay for swimming. There are a few rocks at the shore line which also makes it a great snorkeling spot. Each side of the bay has plenty of snorkeling opportunities around the boulders. There is a coral reef on both sides of the bay and it begins right off the beach. You don’t have to go very far to see an abundance of marine life. The large sandy sea floor makes it ideal for swimming and lounging in the water. At Aow Leuk Bay is also being used a lot for scuba diving training.
Twice a year baby blacktip reef sharks can be seen in the shallows waters at Aow Leuk beach. The adults are found further out, about 400-500 metres from the beach, right off the north shore. If you are an experienced snorkeler, you can swim along the south shore to the next bay, Hin Ngam, which is about 600 metres from the beach. This is a beautiful spot for snorkelling with easy, calm conditions for most of the year.
Koh Tao weather
The climate on Koh Tao is hot and humid for most of the year. The rainiest months are October, November and December, so avoid these months. The best moment to come to the Koh Tao is from January to April but the island is also enjoyable during the months of March until August. At this time of the year Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao have the best weather of all Thai islands.
